Banfi in Montalcino has over thirty years a point of reference for anyone dealing with the world's wine production. Defined at the time as "the largest project ever realized in the production of quality wines", was founded in 1978 by the will of the Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani - who already hold Banfi Vintners, one of the most important import company American wines. The property, situated in the south of the town of Montalcino, occupies 2,830 hectares of which 850 are home to specialized vineyards.
